TV: From the Farm to Your Table–How HOLLY’S MILK is Made

We’ve always wanted to take our little Mishca to the Real Fresh Dairy Farm to show her how her favorite milk is made. In doing so, we hoped to make her drink more milk.  Mishca, Daddy and I  made the trip on March 6 to Bgy. Masaya, Bay, Laguna . We arrive there at 4PM just when they were milking the cows. If we had come half an hour later, we would have missed the whole process, as they only milk the cow twice a day– 4AM and at 4PM.   What a captivating view the farm had!  And such beautiful cows. . . We felt relaxed right away, except for the little toddler who had a little trouble dealing with the cows.   This video is the result of that trip. . .

Behind the scenes: We forgot to charge both of our Canon cameras and then left our extra memory cards! So we filmed with 2 cameras that were not only low on power but low on memory as well. No tripod either!  Another problem we encountered was that the reluctant cameraman (a.k.a. my husband) also had extra nanny duties since our little one couldn’t take the sight or smell of the cows. She eventually quieted down as you can see in the video. And the milk was a big hit with her. She drank about 6 small cups during the milk tasting! Overall, our farm visit was a success. Our daughter drinks even more milk now and we also saw for ourselves that the milk we are getting and distributing is of premium quality– unadulterated, undiluted  milk.

Some more interesting facts:

*The more grass a cow eats, the creamier the milk! So it is best for cows to graze.

* The milk processing facility is state-of-the-art and comes from Israel.

*The cows also produce the cream used by Carmen’s Best Ice Cream.

*The pure Cocoa used for the Chocolate Milk comes from Malaysia and Dumaguete.

*The calves are put inside electric wire fences to train them not to escape. They have had in the past and ruined the neighbor’s rice fields.

*They used to play classical music but the farmhands requested for more contemporary music that will not put them to sleep. The cows  and milkmaids really love One Direction music, but I was promised by Doc Jake that no Lady Gaga music will be played there ever, because it might stress the cows!
