TV: Direk Jeric Soriano
Before there was a Direk Paul Soriano, there’s Direk Jeric Soriano, his dad and mentor. I grew up watching Direk Jeric’s movies and TV commercials in the late 80s and early 90s. Who in my generation can forget Palmolive’s “I Can Feel It” commercial with a fresh-faced Alice Dixon? Remember Hotshots? (Yes, I was a closeted Aga Muhlack fan back then!).
It was therefore a dream come true when I was assigned to do a short video about Direk Jeric the father and husband! On a beautiful afternoon, we went to his house in Alabang to interview him with his wife and three kids. And no, Paul, was not there. If I remember it correctly, he was in the US taking up film-making.

Behind the Scenes:
It was Tita Coney who arranged for this interview to happen. Our executive producer, who knew I was a Jeric Soriano fan, gave me the assignment.
What a lovely afternoon it was. Before the interview we had Jeric and his wife and kids go with us in the park beside their house. It was heartwarming to see the Sorianos interact as a family. The weather cooperated fully with us. If you notice, it was magic hour when we shot the outdoor scenes. Everything was aglow.
The most unforgettable thing for me was to have Jeric approach me, do a slight bow and tell me “Thank you,Ma’am, from the bottom of my heart!” after watching the segment in the 700 Club Asia studio. I was speechless. 🙂
