Fireworks
We are blessed to live in a house that has a full view of the fireworks display during the new year. Zachary is now at an age where he knows that there will be celebration of lights before the new year. At new year’s eve, therefore, I opened the window curtains as I prepared him for bed. The plan was to wake him up at midnight to watch the fireworks.

Unlike his big sister, Zachary was very serious looking as a newborn. In his first few weeks, he seldom locked eyes with me and only does so when he needs to be fed or changed. When he was fast asleep, though, I would catch him flash a sweet smile now and then. It made me ask, “I wonder what makes you smile?”
