Fireworks

We are blessed to live in a house that has a full view of the fireworks display during the new year. Zachary is now at an age where he knows that there will be celebration of lights before the new year. At new year’s eve, therefore, I opened the window curtains as I prepared him for bed. The plan was to wake him up at midnight to watch the fireworks.

The plan did not work. No matter how hard I shook him, Zach was fast asleep. My only recourse was to take a video of the dazzling display of lights streaking through the night sky.

The next day Zach woke up in a fit when he remembered that he missed the fireworks! I consoled him by showing him the video that I took. He was not comforted. I told him to pray.

True enough not a week went by when colorful lights again appeared in the sky in front of our house. This time it was in celebration of a wedding. To his delight, it happened when he was wide awake.

This reminded me of a verse in the Bible: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” -James 1:17
