The Real Noah’s Ark

Did you know that Noah’s Ark has been found intact on top of Mt. Ararat in Turkey?  Watch this amazing video from Phenomenon: The Lost Archives.

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. –Hebrews 11:7  KJV

Noah is one of my favorite Old Testament characters. His faith and faithfulness to follow God’s call in the midst of an unbelieving generation serves as a challenge and inspiration to me.  To build a gigantic ship for more than a 100 years, when he was nowhere near a big body of water, at a time when there was no concept of rain is a testament of how obedient Noah was to his God.

I  remember watching  Evan Almighty, a modern day retelling of the story of Noah,  and bawling my eyes out, while the kids and parents around me inside the theater were all laughing at the antics of Evan. The movie is supposed to be a comedy, but it  struck a chord with me about how God speaks, protects and provides  for His people. God has many times warned me of unforeseen things concerning my personal life, and I so appreciate  that He would use His word, the Holy Spirit or a close friend to speak to me and  give me the grace to listen and obey.  It has spared me from a lot of heartaches, but oftentimes, it took years for me to see the fruit of my obedience. So much like Noah’s story, thankfully though, I did not have to wait a hundred years (or 120 years which scholars say  is the time it took for the ark to be built).

In 2009,  I visited the Noah’s Ark, a new theme park in Hongkong. There was a 4D movie and a museum dedicated to this biblical account. I remember being fascinated by the design of the ark:how it was the precursor of all big sea vessels.  It was also there that I saw how a group of Christians, including those from Hongkong, organized expeditions to find the ark. As I understood it from the pictures and write-up at the museum, they did find some wood on Mt. Ararat that dated back to Noah’s time.  However, some years later, a news story came out in Yahoo that said that everything was a hoax.

I was, therefore, very delighted when Michael and I found this documentary hosted by Hollywood actor Dean Stockwell (Remember him in the series Quantum Leap?)

Hope you can watch it in its entirety and share it with your family and friends.
