I woke up today with a scratchy throat, heavy head and painful tummy. Mishca and I are recovering from dengue fever. All I wanted was to rest and relax, but I remembered that I had to submit some requirements for the Bloggys, which named this blog as one of the finalists for the Family & Relationships category.  I lazily opened the computer and typed my website URL, only to find that the most recent entries I had posted were gone.

How could people be this mean? Is this a random hacking incident or the work of a disgruntled nominee? I really have no idea. I don’t think my blog is famous enough to be targeted by malicious hackers. Ang layo ko naman kina Al-Dub, whose social media account was also hacked recently!  Instead of fuming, I scrambled to fix the damage and secure what was lost.

Then Michael told me that earlier today as he was having his quiet time with God, the Lord impressed upon Him that something like this would happen and that I should be ready to act in humility. In the midst of my panic, God sent Paul and Marites, my techie friends who helped me survey the damage and told me what to do.  They just happened to be online today.  I have not talked to Paul for years,  but as always, he was ready to help and sent me link upon link of techie advice.  What a blessing these friends are!

I have yet to know if my website is now 100% secure. It still boggles me why people do the things they do. I have, however, forgiven the hacker in spite of the hassle he or she has caused me.    It is much easier this way. We always think that forgiveness unfairly favors the person that offended us, when in reality it is really for us. Forgiveness sets us free from all the emotions that can make us fat, sick and ugly. Jesus was actually doing us a favor when He said, “Forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25 KJV)`

It pays to heed advice of 1 Peter 3:9 WEB  “You must not do wrong things to those who do wrong things to you. You must not say wrong things to those who say wrong things to you. But ask God to bless those people. This is what you have been called to do. Then God will bless you.”

Forgive and life will be calm again. 🙂
